Everything is better with butter, yall!” I know that you may think that I am crazy for saying everything has to have butter, but have you tried compound butter with essential oils on your favorite dish? I can hear you already saying, What you talkin’ about Willis?
Most recipes call for butter to add some much needed fats to the dish and can often be lost in the flavor profile. What if I told you that by taking a few extra minutes will change the flavor complexity and give the overall dish a TKO for the win with your family and friends. Compound butter is a way to jazz up that plain old butter to the next level and add flavor that is often underutilized in the food world. The next couple of recipes that I will share with you can be made with whatever kind of butter that you prefer... cows milk butter, goat milk butter, plant based butter, and even clarified butter or ghee. The compound butter can be used to just spread and enjoy on some homemade bread, served over those roasted fresh garden vegetables or a sliver on that grilled grass fed sirloin steak.
The process is simple and all of the recipes follow the same method! Soften the butter and place in a bowl. Add remaining ingredients and blend well and place in an airtight container. To get a formed log of butter- place the compound butter in some plastic wrap or wax paper and wrap tight while forming a log. Store in refrigerator to harden for slicing or on the counter for softened spreading.
